West Side Story

In this rendition of West Side Story Mir played the lead role of Tony. A dream role for Ahad as Tony is often casted as a white male, this role allowed Mir to break what audiences perception were of famous stage characters. West Side Story was also Mir’s return to musical theatre after a period of almost four years.

Man Equals Man

Set in British Colonial India, Man Equals Man presents the forcible transformation of a civilian, Galy Gay, into the perfect soldier by a group of desperate but conniving soldiers of the british army. An earlier work of Bertolt Brecht, Mir played the role of the soldier Jesse and adapted elements of clowning and Brechtian style acting in his performance.


Jebat is a tragicomedy written in 1980 by Malaysian playwright Hatta Azad Khan. The play is based on two semi-historical Malay classics from the 15th and 16th century:Sejarah Melayu (the Malay Annals) and Hikayat Hang Tuah (Epic of Hang Tuah). Mir played the character of Hang Tuah where he learnt the traditional Malay martial arts style known as Silat
